So who works for the worst retailler on the planet

So as a Sunday Morning teaser. I have a question.  Who is the worst retailing company to work for on the planet??????

I will start.  LIDL…..(German Grocery Company)  I worked for this company for 8 months and it nearly broke me.  I would regularly work 80hrs a week as a trainee store manager with little ot no support from my recently graduated 23 year old Area Manager.  I was moved around numerous stores for ‘Business needs’ reasons and given no extra fuel money for the extra travelling I was doing.  All of the other management trainees who started with me had left or were on the sick, and the payroll and productivity budgets were totally unrealistic. Staff were treated horribly and only the people who were able to work any hours were seen as commited.  Area Managers would wait outside the store after 10pm closing time and would make you open back up for an hour long store walk to ensure that you had faced the store up properly. I would then be back up for 5am and in store for 5:45am.  These were my darkest times in retail to date and would gladly nominate this company as the worst to work for on the planet.

Who’s next?

My Introduction and My Reasons for this Blog

Hi All

My Name is the Mystery Shopper and this is my Blog.  For the last 15 years I have held numerous roles in the retail sector and I have seen the good the bad and the ugly. Over the last few years, my life as a retail manager has mainly been in the ugly category  This Blog serves as my rant to the long hours, abuse from customers, poor working conditions, poor management and the general ‘I don’t want to get out of bed feeling’ I get every morning.  I am currently a Store Manager for a large retail company in the UK and have seen pretty much everything you could imagine.  I would like this blog to serve as several things!

1.  A rant when you need to in a confidential environment. Sales Assistant, Manager, Director(Well you never know:) )
2.  Hopefully a place for advice and guidance
3.  Somewhere where my posts may act as an inspiration for others to speak out and post thier feelings

I will try to post as often as possible on here because I feel that working in retail is currently one of the toughest and most exhausting industries to work in….

Welcome to all.  Lets get our rants on here and hopefully everyone who reads my intoduction will have the passion and drive to air thier views.

I will update on my first day back in work after opening this blog on Monday PM

Thank you for listening
