Wahaca offers FREE FOOD to anyone who returns stolen cutlery
The Mexican street food chain co-founded by 2005 winner Thomasina Miers sees 4,000 colourful spoons nicked a year
A MasterChef champ is holding a cutlery amnesty in a bid to get back the 4,000 spoons that go missing from her restaurants every year.
Wahaca, a Mexican street food chain co-founded by 2005 winner Thomasina Miers, is offering free tacos to anyone who returns the colourful plastic cutlery.
It has stores in 16 London locations and recently opened a restaurant in Cardiff.
Cardiff assistant general manager Rebecca Jones said: “Four thousand people a year steal our spoons because they are quite fun and different.
“All throughout the month of January we are asking people to bring them back and if they do we will give them some street food on us.”
The Mexican standoff has led to Wanted posters being put up online by the street food company.
The posters state: “Sure, they’re irresistibly bright and some say ergonomically perfect.
“True, there’s no finer ladle for your last mouthful, but please, PLEASE can we have them back?”
