An Asda worker who was slapped across the face with a WET FISH has received an apology from the teenager who hit her.

The 52-year-old victim was working behind the fish counter at Accrington’s Asda store when a teenage girl came up to ask about different types of fish.

But when the shop assistant went to answer, the girl picked up a large, wet bream, and without warning slapped the worker across the face before fleeing from the store.

The victim thought the incident was probably being filmed by a man on his mobile phone standing nearby, who also ran from the shop when he was challenged.

Police released CCTV footage of the attack on February 4 in an attempt to track down the suspects, and detectives said today a 13-year-old girl has now been spoken to by officers,

She has taken part in a “community resolution”, agreeing to write the victim a letter of apology, and the matter has now been resolved, Lancashire Police said.

A police spokeswoman added that no further fish-slapping incidents had been reported.
